I'm wondering if you ever read the story about A Co. getting a call on the afternoon before Thanksgiving, 1968 to go find and help out the Manchus? I think it was Captain Lightfoot's first major battle and it was a total nightmare.
I've attached a Manchu write up about that day and underlined references to A Co. It mentions one of our tracks getting hit by an RPG. Jim Ascher's platoon was moving along the woodline trying to find the Manchus. He says over the radio, "Where are these guys?", and then his track (or the one next to him, I can't recall) gets hit. Of course all hell broke loose at that point.
The rest of the company was spread out about 100 yards from the woodline and was taking fire from the woodline. But back to the track - fortunately the crew was all on top, including the driver, so only he and another guy were wounded.

We spent the night there, and next morning helped the Manchus for a bit, took a couple photos of the track, and took off.
